Overview

Second Rise ("we", "our", or "us") is a fitness and wellness app designed to provide personalized workout recommendations for women 40+. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. Second Rise is not a medical app. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Data We Collect

Account data

• Email address and password (hashed — we never store your plain-text password)

Wellness & fitness data (only if you connect a device)

When you connect a consumer fitness wearable or wellness platform, we collect only the following general wellness metrics for the purpose of personalizing workout recommendations:

• Sleep duration and stages (light, deep, REM)
• Sleep score (where provided by the device)
• Resting heart rate
• Heart rate variability (HRV)
• Blood oxygen saturation (SpO2)
• Step count
• Recovery score or readiness score (where provided by the device)
• Body temperature deviation (Oura only)

We do not collect, access, or store blood pressure readings, ECG data, blood glucose measurements, or any other regulated medical measurements from any connected device or platform. All connected integrations are consumer-grade wellness platforms, not medical devices.

Supported integrations: Oura Ring, WHOOP, Fitbit, Apple Health, Google Health, Withings, Garmin, and Android Health Connect. Note: while some of these companies (e.g. Withings) also manufacture FDA-cleared medical devices, Second Rise only accesses their consumer wellness APIs and reads the fitness metrics listed above.

App usage data

• Daily check-ins (energy level, body map, pain flags)
• Workout history and session feedback
• Workout recommendations generated for you
• Profile information you choose to provide (age range, menopause stage, HRT status, bone health, equipment)

How We Use Your Data

• To generate personalized daily fitness and workout recommendations
• To track your progress and workout history
• To compare your actual activity against your plan at end of day
• To personalize recommendations based on your wellness profile

Wearable data is used solely to adjust fitness recommendations (for example, recommending a rest day when your sleep score is low). It is not used to assess, diagnose, or monitor any medical condition.

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely on Railway (railway.app) infrastructure. Wellness data from wearables is stored only after you explicitly authorize the connection. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.

Third-Party Services

• Oura, WHOOP, Fitbit, Google Health, Withings, Garmin: Connected only with your explicit authorization via OAuth. We store only the wellness metrics listed above.
• Apple Health: Imported only when you manually upload an export file from the Apple Health app.
• Android Health Connect: Read directly on-device with your explicit permission. Data is sent to our servers only to generate your daily recommendation.
• Anthropic Claude API: Used to generate workout recommendations. Your profile and check-in data is sent to generate recommendations — no data is retained by Anthropic beyond the request.
• YouTube: Workout videos are embedded from YouTube. YouTube's own privacy policy applies to video playback.

Your Rights

You can:

• Disconnect any wearable at any time from your Profile page
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us
• Access or export your data upon request

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time by emailing us at the address below.

Children's Privacy

Second Rise is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
